配置冷通道機柜系統(tǒng)或熱通道機柜系統(tǒng)。其原理為：通過對機房氣流進行控制來節(jié)省制冷能耗和提高服務(wù)器運行穩(wěn)定性已是數(shù)據(jù)機房建設(shè)者的常用措施；冷熱通道分離方法、機柜內(nèi)使用擋風板和假面板防止熱空氣無序流竄等等也已是成熟的簡單技術(shù)。一般機房的機柜布置，遠離主機房空調(diào)的機柜內(nèi)設(shè)備無法得到有效的散熱，機柜內(nèi)設(shè)備處于高溫環(huán)境下運行，要想使遠離主機房空調(diào)的機柜內(nèi)設(shè)備得到有效散熱，要么增加輔助空調(diào)，要么再降低主機房空調(diào)的冷氣溫度，都將增加能耗。冷通道機柜系統(tǒng)或熱通道機柜系統(tǒng)主要用于設(shè)備密度較大的機柜的機房，通過冷風的定向流動達到局部熱點以及的目的。當局部機柜發(fā)熱量大于其他同一通道內(nèi)的機柜時，可采用在對應(yīng)機柜旁增加列間空調(diào)或在開孔靜電地板上增加向上吹氣的風扇和控制氣流方向的百葉窗，以增加此機柜進氣側(cè)的進氣量來解決散熱的問題。
